a theater play
In this project the challenge was to develop a dramaturgy, as well as to design stage and costumes for the ancient greek comedy "The Birds" by Aristophanes. Under the title "Living Everywhere" in my interpretation of the play the birds became clownish people - a group of happy creatures wearing visionary costumes - who are moving from one place to another. Two seekers of free community join them and try to convince the others to settle down, which leads to a dramatic moment.

The stage design is inspired by colourful circus tents. In addition, there is a loge on the stage, which serves as a throne for the master of the birds thus symbolising his power. Another important element of the design is the dynamic background illumination which visually indicates the sequence of the chapters.

The costumes are inspired by the the plumage of the birds - storks, flamingos, starlings, parakeets - and by the "Triadisches Ballett" (Triadic Ballet), a ballet that was developed by Oskar Schlemmer in 1919 in Stuttgart and was continued in 1920 at the Bauhaus in Weimar.
